Bespoke picture framing
Pictures, prints, oils, mirrors and special items, designed with you one to one. Over a thousand mouldings on the wall, plus mounts and glass, matched to the piece and to the room it is going in.
Sarah Dunford opened The Haslemere Framing Co. at Stable Market in 2004, set on better choice and better advice than the framing around at the time. Her son Elliot joined the bench in 2019 and started our own hand gilded and hand painted frames. We see everyone one to one, so the design is never rushed.

Since Elliot joined the bench we hand gild and hand paint our own range of mouldings. A finish tuned to your piece, rather than picked from a stock catalogue, with gold, silver and painted edges done in the studio.
Every material we use is Fine Art Trade Guild Level 1 or 2 conservation grade, the wood sustainably sourced. Acid-free mounts that lift the work off the glass, conservation glass, and careful restoration of older and inherited pieces.
Mirrors made and framed to order, and three-dimensional pieces, textiles, medals and memorabilia float-mounted in deep box frames. If it is awkward to frame, bring it in and we will work it out.

The Haslemere Framing Co. has been a small, independently owned, family business since 2004. The rule has always been the same: conservation-grade materials, a finish chosen for the piece, and time to get it right.
Sarah Dunford picks the design with you. Elliot Dunford hand gilds and hand paints our own mouldings at the bench. Between them, thirty years of framing and a wall of more than a thousand samples to test a finish against your actual work.

A stock moulding is a starting point. Since 2019 we gild and paint our own range in the studio, so the gold can be warmed, the edge toned and the face matched to the work it will hold. The frame stops competing with the picture and starts lifting it.
Underneath the look is conservation. Acid-free mounts that hold the image off the glass, glass chosen to slow fading, all materials to Fine Art Trade Guild Level 1 or 2, the wood sustainably sourced. The kind of care that keeps a piece right for decades.
